"Home Sweet Home" is a song by American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. It was originally released in 1985 on the album Theatre of Pain, and again in 1991 for the Decade of Decadence compilation album.
It has been recorded as a cover version by several artists, most notably country singer Carrie Underwood, who released her version as a single in 2009. We didn’t know what to do, so we started writing songs for Theater Of Pain and ‘Home Sweet Home’ started to come out. The lyrics came out of that feeling of being gone so long and wanting to come back, which is ironic, right? Because all you ever want is to get in a band and go on the road, but then you’re on the road and you want to come home."
